# Gang Information

Responding to gang territory or “Gang Wars”

It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the known gang locations, colors and potential members of gangs. The CID/GTF will have an active list of gang information available to Command+. Should there be a gun fight in a known gang area officers MUST wait until the last shots fired call before attending.\
\
You are then allowed to respond to the gang territory to treat and transport patients to Mount Zonah or secure the scene until the arrival of EMS.\
\
If you are shot during the above process or at any stage during your response to gang turf, you are authorized to return fire and shoot to kill.<br>

Should there be a gang war in a public space, there is no unit limit on this call and SWAT will be utilized to neutralize all suspects who are putting members of the public in danger. You are cleared to detain, arrest and seize all illegal items of these suspects even if they require medical attention. Then transport to MRPD or another PD and charge the suspects accordingly. Please also inform the CID/GTF of your findings to update their knowledge of gang activities. Document all colors the gang is wearing and which flags, names etc that you see/hear whilst responding.

\
If there is no gang war present and there are multiple shots fired on gang turf or a suspect is fleeing into gang turf, all active on duty units may respond to the gang territory until officers can gain custody of the suspects and any additional suspects that assist with their escape.\
\
Keep in mind not all shots fired or calls on gang turf require a full unit response. All units should be ready to respond but it is the primary responding unit's job to assess the situation and see if it is worth the entire force responding there or not.\
\
The responding officer may then use the information of the situation to inform other units to respond or to remain on regular patrol / stay close by encase anything happens whilst the primary unit checks out the call.
