Striking and Disciplinary Actions
If you do not follow SOPs, violate the safety of your fellow officers or commit a crime whilst on duty, including traffic violations, you may be striked or disciplined from your respective department. Although strikes do not stay throughout your career, they will stay on file for 30 days before being reviewed by your department High Command. Examples for receiving a strike could be: Breach of SOPs
Insubordination (Refusing a lawful and morally sound order from a higher ranking officer) Traffic violation (speeding) Unlawful acts Pulling rank and/or disrespecting lower ranks Not following the chain of command/ respecting higher ranks Using equipment/vehicles/uniforms not suited to your role Failure to use the correct liveries for your department Failure to follow the uniform policy for your department Identifying as another department (This can also result in suspension.) Putting yourself or others in danger Although this is not a complete list, High Command from your department has the right to strike you for whichever actions you have committed. You may also receive 2 or 3 strikes or be terminated / suspended from the PD depending on severity. If you do not agree with the strike, then you have the option to appeal this strike to a panel of SAST Command Members or above.
The panel may decide that your disciplinary action needs to be stronger, meaning, if your department strikes you once and you go to a panel to appeal this, the panel may decide it does not deserve a strike OR they could decide to terminate you from the PD.
Trooper Trainees within the police force only get 1 strike until they are a qualified officer/deputy, again an appeal panel MAY be available to the cadet depending on severity of the strike. SAST Personnel may not acquire a strike, if you are striked you will be removed from SAST and potentially terminated depending on severity. LOA’s may only be granted by High Command, the longest a member of PD main remains on LOA before HC considers their demotion is up to month. However High Command may choose to warn you / consider your demotion sooner if they wish to do so. LOA’s usually are given for 2 weeks unless there are special circumstances for an extension.
